QantasLink will operate the flight route to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island from November 2025. Find out how this will impact your booking.

From November 3rd 2025, QantasLink will replace Virgin as the carrier for flights to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island.

Are luggage allowances the same?

Flights with Qantas include 30 kg of complimentary checked luggage and 7 kg carry-on. Additional baggage up to 35 kg can be purchased, subject to availability.

Is food included on the new flights?

Complimentary food and beverages will be offered on Qantas flights to Cocos. Travellers can request dietary-required meals via the Qantas website at least 24 hours prior to departure (36 hours for Halal meals).

What will happen to my existing flight booking?

Virgin Australia have advised they will be cancelling and refunding any bookings made with them for travel after November 1st 2025. Refunds will be automatically returned to the payment method used when making the booking.

Flights for travel after November 1st 2025 will need to be rebooked with Qantas. As seats are not being held for existing bookings, we encourage all travellers to rebook their flights as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Will prices be the same for new flights?

Qantas has agreed to price match cancelled Virgin flights for those rebooking on a new Qantas service and who provide appropriate supporting evidence.

The rate for child fares on the Indian Ocean Territories route will be 75% of adult fares and this now available to book through Qantas.

Please contact either Qantas or your travel agent regarding price matching your existing booking.

What changes are there to the flight schedule?

Flight days will change from Tuesday and Friday to Monday and Friday. Additional flights on Saturdays will operate to Christmas Island only during periods of high demand.

Flights will initially include a stop over at Port Hedland. Passengers will not disembark during this stop.

Qantas will continue to operate flights from Terminal 1 at Perth Airport.

Some existing bookings will be impacted by the change in flight day from Tuesday to Monday. If your booking was made with the Visitor Centre, we are contacting impacted travellers to update their booking.

If you made your reservation with a travel agent or directly with an island operator, please contact them regarding your booking.

Changes and cancellations will be subject to the operator’s booking terms and conditions.

It is rare, in this day and age, to come upon a place so delightful in both looks and temperament that, on the very first sighting, one’s jaw does genuinely drop.

If going with the flow is how you roll, you will love the Cocos Keeling Islands. They have a small – very small – country town vibe. Your activities revolve around the exquisite lagoon whether they be snorkelling, diving, fishing, parasailing, or just relaxing under a coconut palm reading a book while inhaling the frangipani infused air

Scuba diving at Cocos Keeling islands is nothing short of spectacular. Fabulous visibility, pristine coral reefs, abundant marine life and all the trappings of a tropical paradise without the flashy resorts. Yes, it is isolated and it takes some effort to get there, but this is more than offset by the quality of the diving, the friendly locals and the very laid back and relaxing ambience of the entire place. It is quirky, fun and a great place for a holiday. We will return and soon

Don’t miss this place. My wife and I recently spent a fantastic week on Cocos Keeling Islands. We took the opportunity to take the twice weekly ferry service from West Island to Direction Island... we loved it so much we came back for a second time.

Home Island is definitely quieter than West Island with religion a big part of daily life but the locals were so friendly and welcoming. It was so nice to be able to swim straight off the shore in amazing turquoise water while we cooked BBQs at sunset. Highly recommended!
